Even though he almost always had his trusty Nikon with him, the mission always came first. Combat flying can be terrifying and fighting boredom all in the same mission. Heater has told us stories about 14 hour flights doing combat air patrols, looking for enemy aircraft, going to the tanker one or even two times, and then back to looking for the enemy until is was time to head back to the ship. Those long transit times sometimes presented an opportunity that can only be witnessed at a exact time and place. During one of those moments, Heater captures a beautiful air-to-air shot of a Tomcat at dusk.
